Dear Mary,
As you know, Bud was my first friend. We met when we were 2, and we grew up together. I spoke to my brother Dave. He and Bud shared a great love for baseball and sports.
I told Dave I feel very empty. He replied "pray for strength and guidance. 'Burley' was a good friend. Don't weep that he's gone, be glad he was here."
I'm glad he was here.
My deepest sympathy to you, Mr. Statler, and your family.
