Rev. Genevieve Anthony

Rev. Genevieve Anthony, 91, Johnstown, died September 5, 2016 at Cambria Care Center.  She was born June 7, 1925 in Islan, the daughter of the late Jessie and Leo (Harris-Powell) Cunningham.  Preceded in death by husband, Robert D. Anthony, infant daughter, Leitta, sons, Wilbert Cooper and Leroy Williams and siblings, Dorothy Charles, Fred, Arthur, Viola, Arder and James Cunningham, Helen Hardison.  Survived by sons, Leo Cooper, York; Frank Williams, Johnstown and John Anthony, Sr. married to Jeanette Davis, Johnstown and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.  Also survived by sisters,  Louise Holmes and Gussie Jones, both of Buffalo, NY and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.  Genevieve was a graduate of Greater Works of Monroeville.  She was a longtime beautician, a lifetime member of the YWCA and a community activist.  She was also known for being a seamstress and an upholsterer. Rev. Genevieve was a former member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church, where friends will be received from 5-8 PM, Friday and 11:30 AM until time of funeral service at 1 PM, Saturday.  Rev. Dr. Ralph E. Johnson officiating.  Interment Grandview Cemetery.
