Rev. Warren S. Karshin, 79, Johnstown, died February 10, 2018, at the Allegheny Lutheran Home. He was born October 24, 1938, in Johnstown, son of the late Walter John and Edna Ruth (Everhart) Karshin. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, the former Phyllis Jane Streilein, and daughters, Deborah Karshin, Johnstown; Christine Karshin, Ypsilanti, MI; and Dana Kinder, and husband, Richard, Gibsonia; grandchildren, Olivia and Noah, and his brother, Walter H. Karshin, and wife Mary Catherine (Rabic), Davidsville. Warren was a graduate of Johnstown High School, Thiel College, and Gettysburg Seminary. He then began a 36 year journey with service to his congregations, and the Lord, as an ordained minister. Spending the last 26 years at his home church, Zion Lutheran Church, retiring in 2000, to the status of Pastor Emeritus. Friends will be received on Monday, from 3-7 PM, at Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary, Inc., 921 Menoher Blvd., Johnstown. Funeral services will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, 613 Locust St, Johnstown, Tuesday at 10:00 AM, Bishop Michael Rhyne celebrant and homilist. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to “Rev. Warren S. Karshin Scholarship Fund “ at Gettysburg Seminary, c/o Zion Lutheran Church, 613 Locust St., Johnstown, PA 15901.
