Viola I. "Sissy" Anthony

Viola I.”Sissy” Anthony, 74, Johnstown, was called home to be with the Lord, October 7, 2017, at Allegheny General Hospital.  She was born May 10, 1943, in Johnstown, daughter of the late Howard and Mary (Washington) Burnett.  She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Robert D. Anthony, daughter Andrea Rouse (Maurice), Johnstown; and son Robert (Sarah Neely), New Kensington; grandchildren Samara Rouse, Kamden and Kira Anthony.  Siblings, Richard Burnett (Judith), Boston; Ida Burnett, Johnstown; Hope Jones, Pittsburgh; and Caroline Jones, NC; god-daughter’s, Michelle Mclamb and Takiyah Marie Adnes Hale, devoted nieces and nephew, Dawn Andrews, Joe Greenwood, Tasha Hale and Dashanna Andrews, and very close friends, Loveveane Herndon and Norma Sitton.  Viola was a graduate of Johnstown High School, then attending Cambria-Rowe.  She retired from GTE/Verizon as a facility assigner.  Vi was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, mother-in-law and friend.  She possessed a heart of pure beauty, and the smile of an angel, touching the lives of many, in so many different ways. Sweet but stern, loving yet honest, she took care of all and made us feel special in a way that only Sissy could.  Vi will be truly missed by her family and friends.  Friends will be received on Friday from 6-8PM at Mt. Sinai Institutional Baptist Church, 3rd St. Conemaugh, where services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, Rev. Maurice Williams officiating.  Entombment Grandview Mausoleum.  Arrangements entrusted to Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary, Inc., 921 Menoher Blvd. Johnstown, PA.
