Mary "Joann" Whatmore Obituary

Mary Alice “Joann” (Kunkle) Whatmore, 91, Florence AZ, formerly of Johnstown, died January 11, 2024.  Born in Johnstown, daughter of the late Harry and Violet (Empfield) Kunkle, also predeceased by brother Harry, sister Barbara Golojich and grandson Shawn Anthony Glowacz.  She is survived by her loving husband Howard D. Whatmore, who she married in 1954, children Patricia Ann Glowacz (Stanley), Howard D. Whatmore, Jr. (Dolores Castro), JoAnn (Whatmore) Reitmeier; grandchildren Corey Patrick Glowacz (Lauren Poplin), Shannon Marie Glowacz-Arevalo (Moises), Nicole Ann Biddle (Chad), Trevor Howard Whatmore (Hannah Suerth) and Amber Lynn Sadoski (Nick Turner); greatgrandchildren Stephanie Cameron, Justin Glowacz, Kylan, Kade and Madelyn Biddle and Savannah and Jaxson Arevalo; and many nieces and nephews.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

 She retired from Motorola after 30 years of service and was a devout Catholic, who enjoyed going to church.  She loved cooking and baking, playing cards, and loved dogs so much that she had a canine friend with her for her entire life. Funeral Mass will be held at Our Mother of Sorrows,  Saturday February3.2024, Rev. Mark Begly officiating, interment Grandview Cemetery. Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary, 921 Menoher Blvd. Johnstown, is in charge of arrangements.
