Carol Jean Buchan

Carol Jean Buchan, 69, Johnstown, died December 1, 2019 at Memorial Medical Center.  Born March 13, 1950 in Johnstown, daughter of the late John and Stella Holland.  Also preceded in death by son, Sgt. 1st Class Raymond “Richie” Buchan, who was killed in Iraq in 2007.  Survived by loving husband Richard, son Philip and spouse Debra Donnelly, Pittsburgh; grandchildren Hayden and Andy, and sister, Karen Spiller (Joe).  Carol was a graduate of GJHS and University of Pittsburgh, with a BS in nursing, then being employed by Mercy Hospital, Conemaugh Memorial Hospital and more recently at Dr. Kastelic’s office.  She loved nursing and helping people.  She was a happy go lucky person who had many interests, including sitting outside to read books and watch nature.  She loved spending time with friends and chatting over the phone.  She loved traveling yearly to NYC on bus trips, and to the Casinos with her son and husband.  Recently she went on a trip of a lifetime to Hawaii with her girlfriend.  Carol was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church where funeral mass will be held at 10 AM Thursday, Rev. William Rosenbaum officiating. Entombment Grandview. Friends will be received at Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary, 921 Menoher Blvd. Wednesday from 3-7 PM.   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Community Foundation of the Alleghenies, attn: Sgt. 1st Class Raymond “Richie” Buchan Fund.  (ptbmortuary.com)
