Don Luke Obituary

Donald L. Luke, 95, Westmont, went to be with the Lord, July 5, 2019, at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home.  Don was born, July 8, 1923, in Roxbury, where he was raised.  He was the son of the late William F. and Hulda (Smith) Luke, and was also preceded in death by his wife, Muriel (Barnhart) Luke, daughter Lauren J. Luke, and siblings, Robert Luke and Betty Luke.  He is survived by daughters Jennifer G. Colbert (Dennis), Johnstown; Rebecca L. Payne (Joseph), NJ; and Stephanie L. Luke (Bob Weston), NY; grandchildren, Jesse Hibbard, Cody Hibbard, Bethany Youseff, Shannah Walberg, Patrick Colbert, Shawn Colbert, Courtney Colbert, Caitlin Forcellini, Ryan Urban, Jarek Partsch, Chloe Partsch, Caressa Partsch and Connor Partsch; and 19 great-grandchildren.  He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.  Don served with the Army Air Corps during WWII, as a Corporal with the 348th bomb group attached with the 8th Air Force.  Working as a real estate broker at John Hill Real Estate for 60 years demonstrated his incredible work ethic. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, and he loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing, and played tennis well into his seventies.  He was a former member of the Downtown Kiwanis and the Elks.  At Don’s request there will be no visitation, and services will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cambria County Humane Society or Windber Hospice.  The family would like to thank his caregivers, Patty, Chaya, Tracy and Sondre, and the staff at Windber Hospice and the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home for their loving care.  The family is being served by Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary.
