James W. Reed

Reed, James W., 91, Upper Yoder Township, died July 25, 2019.  Born October 26, 1927, in Johnstown, son of the late Elmer H. and Edna H. (Wicknick) Reed.  Preceded in death by his wife Jean (Sellman) Reed; sister, Fern Yarnick; sister-in-law Helen.  He is survived by daughter, Joyce (Martin) Radovanic, of Johnstown; son, Jim (Judy Shultz) Reed of NC; grandchildren Kristen (Christopher) Corcoran, Marty Radovanic, Ryan Reed (fiancé Kristen Schultz) and Allyson Reed.  Also survived by great grandchildren:  John “Jack”, Joshua, Thomas and William Corcoran; Marty and Matthew Radovanic; and his brothers Robert (Dorothy) and Kenneth Reed.  James served in the Army in WWII. He was then employed for 42 years as a GTE technician retiring in 1990.  James was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, the American Legion, VFW and Daisytown Fire Hall.  James had numerous friends and enjoyed coffee at McDonald’s, attending the Retired Men’s Club, Greek New Year and going to the Wheeling WV Casino. James loved Tuesday “holiday”, family dinners at Rizzo’s, but most of all, he loved his family, especially Jean.  Friends will be received Sunday from 4-7 at Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary, 921 Menoher Blvd. services will be held Monday at 10:30 AM at Christ Lutheran Church.  Interment Grandview Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by Conemaugh Valley Detachment, Marine Corps League.   Sincere thanks from our family to Interim Hospice-especially Sandy, Martha, Kayla and Chaplin Stephanie, for their loving care of our beloved Dad.  Special thanks to his caregivers, Nancy and Robbie.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, 337 Elknud Lane, Johnstown, PA 15905.   (ptbmortuary.com)
