John Augustine, 93, Laurel View Village, died February 4, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born September 12, 1923 in Johnstown, the son of the late William and Beatrice (Duman) Augustine. Preceded in death by wife, Mary Margaret (Bloomquist) Augustine, whom he married June 21, 1947; brothers, Joseph and Ralph Augustine. Survived by daughter, Lynne Gramling, Johnstown, granddaughters, Leah married to Tyler Winkler, Duluth, GA; Megan married to Ryan Reilly, Altoona; Caryne married to Paul Shoning, Erie Colorado; great-grandchildren, Cole, Hunter, Colin, Adam, Patrick, Braden and Maeve. Also survived by sister, Mary Jane married to Charles Beam. John was a World War II Veteran serving in the United States Navy as a Quartermaster 2nd Class. He retired as President and CEO of Central Contractor’s Supply Company. John was past president, Paul Harris Fellow and 60 year member of Rotary International; Board of Directors at Dale National Bank 1975-2002; Board of Directors at The Community Arts Center of Cambria County for over 15 years. He was also past Chairman and served on the Lee Hospital Board of Directors 1975-2005; Lee Regional Health Systems Chairman 1982-2002, and was instrumental in the evolution of Lee Regional Health Systems into Lee Initiatives, Inc., which developed Laurel View Village Retirement Community. John served as Chairman of Laurel View Board from 1984 – October 2016. He was the Recipient of the William Booth Award for Service to the Salvation Army. John was a longtime member of St. Clement Catholic Church, where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM, Thursday. Rev. William E. Rosenbaum. Friends will be received from 3-7 PM, Wednesday, at Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary, Inc., 921 Menoher Blvd. Interment Grandview Cemetery.
