John C. Oswald

John C. Oswalt, 75, Southmont, died May 20, 2018 at his residence.  Born October 14, 1942 in Harrisburg, son of the late John P. and Laura M. (Thomas) Oswald.  Survived by loving wife, of 52 years, the former Joan L. (Bloom), loving children, Matthew J. Oswald, Ashville, NC; and Amanda Harrington, (James), Davidsville; and beloved grandchildren Allie and Ian.  Also survived by brothers Thomas (Michele), Pittsburgh and William (Debra), Greencastle, PA; along with many nieces and nephews.  John was a civil engineer, employed by Beth Energy Mines and U.S. Steel, and he also did private surveying.  He was a member of B.P.O.E. #175 for many years and a member of the Professional Engineers.  John was an avid Steeler and Penguin fan.  He and Joan spent the past 12 winters in Ft. Myers Beach, FL, where they made many close friends.  Friends will be received from 5-8 PM on Wednesday at the Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary, Inc., 921 Menoher Blvd., where funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, the Rev. Alice Tondora officiating.   Interment Grandview Cemetery.
