 Ronald C. Bischof, (Ron), 86, Upper Yoder Township, entered into eternal rest on April 10, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center-Palliative Care Unit after a long illness.  He was born on November 12, 1930 in Johnstown, the son of the late Frank and Agnes (Tedjeske) Bischof.  Preceded in death by his siblings, Dolores Keiper, Agnes Mauser, Phyllis White, Frances Bischof, Eugene Bischof, and James Bischof.  Ron is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, the former Florence (Flo) Cannon, and by the following children, daughter, Deborah, wife of George Wood of St. Augustine, Florida; son, Ronald C. Jr. and wife, the former Stephanie Babik of Johnstown; daughter, Marjorie, Johnstown and son, Thomas and wife, the former Veronica Tenaro of Dover, Delaware. Ron had six grandchildren, Daniel Wood, Jonathan Wood, Stephen Bischof, Sara Bischof, Ryan Bischof and Kyle Bischof and four great-grandchildren, Hunter, Alizabeth, Lillian, and Hanna Wood.   Ron was also survived by a sister,Barbara Maher of Zeilwood, Florida and numerous nieces and nephews. A 1948 graduate of Catholic High School (Bishop McCort), Ron served in the United States Navy for 4 years during the Korean War.  He graduated from Cambria Rowe Business College and the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown where he studied accounting. Ron retired after 39 years from Penelec, working as a supervisor in Generation Budgeting.  He was actively involved in Scouting, serving as Scout Master of Troop #217 for a number of years. Ron was a former Upper Yoder Township Supervisor and was a member and former chaplain of the Elks Lodge, B.P.O.E # 175. He was “adopted” into the Johnstown High School Class of 1952 reunion committee and enjoyed working with his wife on planning their class reunions.  In his retirement he loved helping his daughter-in-law, serving as kindergarten “grandpap” to many young children.  Family, friends, and community meant everything to Ron and his sense of humor will be very much missed by all those who knew him. Ron was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church, 114 Lindberg Avenue, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM, Tuesday, April 18, 2017 by the Rev. William E. Rosenbaum. Family and friends will be received on Monday, April 17, 2017 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary, Inc., 921 Menoher Boulevard, where a memorial service will be held by the Elks Lodge B.P.O.E #175 members at 7 pm. Entombment Grandview Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted courtesy of Conemaugh Valley Detachment #287 Marine Corps League. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Ron’s memory to: Elks Home Service Program (assisting those with cerebral palsy)-B.P.O.E # 175, 330 Teaberry Lane, Johnstown, PA 15904 or the Upper Yoder Volunteer Fire Company and Ambulance Service, 320 Warren Street, Johnstown, PA  15905.
