Mele, Andrew "Butch", Beloved owner and operator of the legendary Lobster Trap bar and restaurant in the Oakland section of Stonycreek Township. Butch was preceded in death by mother Helen, father Andrew, and brother Ted.
Butch was born in 1950 in Johnstown and a graduate of Johnstown High School. He began his hospitality career at a young age, working at his family’s bar/restaurant. Butch worked side-by-side with his parents through the years before becoming the sole proprietor. Known for mixing great drinks and pouring mini-pitchers of draft beer for his patrons, Butch was quick to offer commentary on every topic presented to him.
A fervent Steelers fan, Butch enjoyed watching games at the bar with his clients, many of whom he considered family. He also loved playing in the dart league he hosted at the “Trap’ and is one of the all-time scorers at the basketball court in lower Oakland.
Raise your glass to Butch and tip your bartenders. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name may be made to the Oakland Volunteer Fire Company.
