Bernard L. Statler, Sr. “Bud”, 96, Johnstown, died January 22, 2020. Born February 18, 1923 in Windber, son of the late Arthur and Eva (Hayes) Statler. Also preceded in death by his loving wife, the former Margaret Blimmel, son Bernard L., Jr. and sisters, Ora Mae Statler and Peggy Statler. Survived by grandchildren Mary Pat Statler, Matthew Statler (Kate), and Jennifer Creasy; great grandchildren Liam, Erin, Honora, Damian, Michael, Jaden and James, along with daughter-in-law Mary Statler. Bud was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the European Theatre from 1943-1946, and then was employed as a manager at Westinghouse for 40 years. Friends will be received at Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary, 921 Menoher Blvd. on Tuesday from 9:30 AM until time of departure at 10:30, proceeding to St. Clement Catholic Church for funeral mass at 11 AM, Rev. William Rosenbaum, officiating. Entombment at Richland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, in Bud’s name.
