Betty Lou Jakell

Jakell, Betty Lou, 80, Johnstown, died November 27, 2022 at Memorial Medical Center.  Born on October 9, 1942 in Johnstown, daughter of the late Jacob and Mary (Kawchak) Jakell.  Survived by sister Helen Mangos and nephew Anthony Mangos, along with several cousins.  She was a 1960 graduate of Greater Johnstown High School and St. Francis University.  Betty was a retired executive secretary of 44 years at Ameriserv.  She enjoyed life to the fullest, always with a positive attitude.  She was active in many organizations including Inclined to Read Bookstore at Cambria County Library, JHS Reunion committee, Cambria County Humane Society, Zion Lutheran soup sales and bulletin.  She also volunteered at the Ameriserv Music Festival.  Betty enjoyed traveling, especially to New York City to attend Broadway shows.  She was an avid reader and loved walking in the neighborhood for exercise. Friends are invited to attend a service at 10 AM Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, Rev. Michael Van Dyke officiating.  Interment at Grandview Cemetery.
