Bryan J. Schmid

Bryan J. Schmid, 70, of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, passed away on June 25, 2026.

Born on November 24, 1955, to Julius and Joyce Schmid, Bryan graduated from Central Cambria High School before proudly serving in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he worked in the coal industry and later built a long career with CSX Railroad as a lead conductor. In retirement, he enjoyed taking several trips with his twin sons.

Bryan was known for his loyalty, wisdom, strong work ethic, and a smile and sense of humor that could brighten any room. Through his dedication to family, friends, and colleagues, he left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

He is survived by his sons, Zach and Zane Schmid, and their mother, Gina Dyda-Schmid; his brother, Randy Schmid (); his sister, Sandy Crespi (Frank); his sister-in-law, Joanne Eritano Schmid; his nieces and nephews, Kelly Schmid, Derrick Schmid, Jan Schmid, Jordan Crespi, and Jackie Leckey; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother, Brad Schmid.

A celebration of Bryan’s life will be announced and held at Rizzo’s Italian Restaurant in Johnstown, Pennsylvania.

Bryan will be deeply missed. His love, guidance, and the memories he created will remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
