Crystal L. Banks, 56, of Johnstown, PA passed away on May 20, 2024 surrounded by family in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Born on September 20, 1967, to Josephine (Carter) Banks and William H. Baxter, Sr. Preceded in death by parents, sister Vonzell Holliday, brothers James Banks and William (Little Buddy) Baxter, Jr.; maternal grandparents George and Mary(Cashaw) Carter, and paternal grandparents, Rev. William and Della Baxter. Survived by daughters, Natasha Banks Walton (Craig), Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Shakeyla Paillett of Pittsburgh, PA; sons Jamall Salter, Indiana, PA and James Salter, Johnstown, PA Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, Sayjah, Cairo, Jayvlon, Ermias, Jazera and Nina; Godchildren, Drue Johnson and Akara Minter; siblings Karen Carter Brandon (Wilfred), Paula Carter, and Anthony Banks of Johnstown; Terrie Banks, Houston, TX and Leah Clayton, Johnstown; Ebony Logan, Columbus, OH; special niece, Nya Carter; special cousins, Aretha Tillman, Cynthia McCray, Juanita Jones-Howard, Denise Rose, and Dwight Rose (deceased); best friends, Valerie Joy, Carmella Cook and Kelli Schatzman (deceased)l and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Crystal graduated from Greater Johnstown High School and Cambria Rowe Business College. She was a devoted member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and a former employee of Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center and Conduent. Crystal enjoyed hosting family gatherings, celebrations with loved ones, and shopping. She was always the life of the party and brought so much joy to others. She was a devoted nana and deeply cherished bonds with each of her grandchildren. Crystal inspired so many with her faithfulness throughout her breast cancer battle. We thank everyone who has shown tremendous love, support, and care during this difficult time. Friends will be received from 4-7 PM on Friday at Christ Centered Community Church, 531 Somerset St., where Celebration of Life will be held at noon on Saturday, Rev. Sylvia King officiating. Interment at Benshoff Hill Cemetery.
