Dorothea J. Sottile

Dorothea J. Sottile, 96, Johnstown, went to be with the Lord  on March 27, 2023 while surrounded by family and loving caretakers at the Richland Care Center.  She was born on May 16, 1926 to the late Howard and Harriet (Baumgardner) Cobaugh.  She was also preceded in death by her husband August J. Sottile, Sr. and grandson Allen.  She is survived by her sons August Sottile, Jr. and wife Lois (Sacerino) and Paul Sottile; along with grandchildren A.J. (Jen), Lynette, Paul, Jr. and Jeremy (Denise).  She is the great-grandmother of 5 girls, Leanna, Alexandra, Allison, Jordan and Gianna.  She is also survived by cousins Patricia Weir and Ed Baumgardner.  Dorothea was known for her ability to make friends and her quick-witted sense of humor.  She could be found making her family their favorite treats or bringing plants to life.  Her famous quote was always “I’m fine”, regardless of what she was facing.  To us she was the finest and will be greatly missed.  Dorothea was a member of St. John Gualbert Cathedral, Sons of Italy and Catholic War Vets.  Friends will be received at the Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary, Inc. on Friday from 9 AM until departing for the 10 AM mass at St. John Gualbert Cathedral, Fr. Matthew Baum officiating.  Interment Richland Cemetery.
