Dorothy Mae Andrews

Andrews, Dorothy Mae, 83, Johnstown, earned her heavenly wings  June 19, 2022.  Born March 16, 1939 in Bullock, AL daughter of Willie Lee and Essalean Dix.  Preceded in death by parents and stepfather James Petty; husband Robert P. Andrews; daughter Melody Andrews-Young; grandson Zachary Andrews; special aunt & uncle, Rev. M.J. & Bertha Smith, AL; brothers Joseph, Willie L. Jr.; and David Dix; sisters Helen Dix-Smith and Betty Dix-Morton.  Survived by daughters Valerie Andrews-Dixon, MD; April, Johnstown; sons Robert P. Andrews, Jr. (Leslie), Pittsburgh; Dwight Andrews (Kristy), Johnstown. grandchildren Ashley Boltz (Cody), OH; Dwight, Johnstown; Bria, MD; Nicholas, Pittsburgh; Tyvon, Johnstown; Michelle & Auntuan; along with great-grandchildren Alaya, Johnstown; Calvin, OH; Aspen, Johnstown; and Riley, OH; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Also surviving are brother James Petty, sister Juanita Petty-Blakeney, Johnstown; a host of cousins and devoted friend and caregiver Liz Petruska, Johnstown.  Dorothy was a devoted wife and mother.  In her early years Dorothy worked as an elevator operator at Glosser Bros. dept. store, after which she spent all of her time raising her children into adulthood and as a loving and loyal caregiver to her special needs daughter.  Dorothy was known to be a very kind, loving, generous and strong-minded woman with a little feistiness to top it off.  She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.  Friends will be received on Friday from 4-7 PM at the Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary, 921 Menoher Blvd., where service will be held at 11 AM Saturday, Pastor Theresa A.
