In loving memory of Mary “Eileen” Weinzierl (Platt), 95, of Johnstown, Pennsylvania. On May 14th, 2023, she peacefully entered the embrace of the Lord, joining her beloved husband of 68 years, Lester "Les" Weinzierl, in eternal rest. Born on April 17th, 1928, Eileen was a cherished daughter to Francis Platt and Katherine Platt (Diamond) and a loving sister to Francis Platt Jr. and Donald Platt, all of whom preceded her in death.
Eileen leaves behind a legacy of love through her devoted children: Dennis and his wife Julie of Columbus, OH; Maureen and her husband Phil of Woodstock, GA; and Gary and his wife Judy of Johnstown, PA. Her memory also lives on in the hearts of her eight adoring grandchildren: Lynette, Kellie, Steven, Liz, Lauren, Cassie, Mark, and Jennifer. Additionally, she is survived by fourteen loving great-grandchildren: AJ, Elle, Mikayla, Riley, Evie, Logan, Olivia, Lexi, Harley, Janelle, Keeley, Geraint, Gethin, and Inara.
Eileen's warmth and unwavering devotion were evident in her roles as a loving wife, nurturing mother, and grandmother. Alongside her husband, she co-founded Westwood Auto Body and was also a founding member of St. Clements Catholic Church, where her steadfast faith found solace and strength.
Eileen had a lifelong passion for singing and dancing, having been taught by the legendary Gene Kelly himself. She shared this love with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who joyfully grew up under her loving guidance. Eileen and Les reveled in their shared love for the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame, cherished the memories made while boating with family and friends at Prince Gallitzin, and all their times at Pompano Beach in Florida.
Above all, Eileen's faith, family, and her beloved husband and best friend, Les, held the utmost importance in her heart. Their love was an inspiration to all who knew them.
A celebration of Eileen's remarkable life will take place at St. Clements Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 24th, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. Father William Rosenbaum will preside over the Funeral Mass. In accordance with Eileen's wishes, there will be no viewing. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to St. Clements Catholic Church at 110 Lindberg Avenue, Johnstown, PA 15905.
Eileen will be laid to rest next to her husband, Les, at Grandview Cemetery. Arrangements are provided by Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary, Inc. at 921 Menoher Blvd.
May the memory of Eileen's radiant spirit and unwavering love bring comfort and warmth to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
