Evelyn M. Nies

Evelyn M. Nies, 94, died on April 15, 2021. She was born in Johnstown on October 21, 1926 and is the daughter of the late Otto and Emma (Krouse) Nies, and also preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Will and nephew Dale Will. She is survived by niece, Kimberley Will DiMezza (Steven), great nephew, James Williams, and great niece, Dr. Elizabeth Karcher (Darrin). Evelyn loved her great-great nieces and nephews Johanna, Adelyn, Emma, Alexander and Gabriel. She was an avid reader, talented seamstress, and enjoyed music. Evelyn attended Johnstown High School and played the clarinet in the school’s marching band. She retired from Bethlehem Steel Corp., where she worked at the General Office, and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary. The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to The American Heart Association in Evelyn’s name.
