Harold "Sonny" Metz

Metz, Harold R . (Sonny), 78, Johnstown, died August 31, 2019 at Cambria Care Center.  Born January 25, 1941 in Johnstown, son of the late William and Florence (Lees) Metz.  Preceded in death by brother William, Jr. and sister Mary.  Survived by cousin Kate (Larry) Single, CT; and other family members.  Harold made his home with Cambria Residential Services, Inc. in the Portage area for over 42 years.  During that time, Harold made many friends, including his best buddy, Roger.  Harold loved a good laugh and playing tricks on people “to get them going”, as he said.  He loved puppies, music and movies, and traveling with The Guided Tour Group.  He attended day program and pre-employment programs through Goodwill, the Cambria County Association for the Blind and Handicapped and most recently, Skills of Central PA.  He always demonstrated concern for others and was a very kind person with a great appreciation for all of those who cared for him over the years.  He will be missed by many.    Friends will be received at Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary, 921 Menoher Blvd. on Thursday from 1 PM until time of service at 3 PM.  Interment Grandview Cemetery.
