James S. Curry, 63, of Johnstown, went to be with the Lord on April 29, 2018. Born December 20, 1954 son of the late James and Betty (Sahlaney) Curry. Preceded in death by in-laws, Samuel "Joe" and Pauline Stumpo. Survived by his loving wife, Nancy M. (Stumpo), whom he married in August of 2015. Also survived by: sons, James Francis (Katie Tokarsky), Daniel James, and Samuel James, all of Johnstown; step-sons, Christopher Arena, Johnstown and Matthew Arena, Cincinnati, OH; brothers-in-law, Anthony J. Stumpo (Kathy), Johnstown, Frank Stumpo (Marcia), Hatfield, PA; David Stumpo (Lynn), Venetia, PA and sisters-in-law, Edie (David Knobloch) and Kathy Jaskula, both of Johnstown. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his furry friend and companion, Alex. Jim was a 1973 graduate of Westmont Hilltop High School. Forty-three years ago, Jim took over the business his father established, "Curry Auto Sales", due to his father's ill health. Jim was a member of St. Mary Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church, where he formerly served in the Altar Area and on the Parish Council. He was a volunteer football coach for 21 years at Westmont Hilltop Jr. High School. He enjoyed attending his sons' sporting events. He also enjoyed playing flag football and later in life, developed a passion for the NHL. His other hobbies included: working on motorcycles, cars, and going on Royal Caribbean cruises with his wife. Jim had a heart of gold and was always willing to put others before himself. His quick wit and loyalty to his loved ones will be greatly missed. Friends will be received from 3-7 PM Thursday at Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary, Inc., 921 Menoher Blvd. where Trisagion Prayers of Mercy will be sung at 6 PM. Trisagion Prayers of Mercy will be sung at the funeral home Friday starting at 10 AM, followed by a Funeral Service at 10:30 AM at St. Mary Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church, Very Rev. Fr. Donald Shadid, officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to "St. Mary Special Projects Fund".
