John A., Custer 61, Johnstown, died January 15, 2025 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. Born January 13, 1964 in Johnstown, son of Carol F. Reynolds. Preceded in death by mother, brothers Robert T. Custer and Ronald R. Custer; uncles and aunt; cousins Melinda Pinella and James T. Parks, Jr., who was like a son to John. Survived by his loving children, Marie Duell (Josh); John Custer, Jr.; and Emily Custer; grandchildren Layla; Lillian; Laina; and Michael Duell. Also surviving are twin brother James A. Custer; sisters Carmella F. Custer and Raylene Schultz; sister-in-law Anita Custer; along with numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to give a special thank you to John Clawson, Anna Custer, and Marie Berkebile for stepping up to help in his time of need. John was an active member of society, serving 27 years on the Lorain Borough Council, with his last position being president. He dedicated his life to helping and serving others, serving over 40 years as a volunteer firefighter and paid EMT at numerous departments (Lorain, Oakland, Belmont). John also spent many years as a bartender at JR’s Sports Den. Friends will be received at the Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary, 921 Menoher Blvd. on Monday from noon until time of service at 2 PM, Rev. Rob Wolf officiating. Interment at Benshoff Hill Cemetery.
