John Crawford Weiss

John Crawford Weiss, 82, of Johnstown Pennsylvania died on January 08, 2021, at Laurel View Village in Davidsville.  He was born August 24, 1938, in Altoona Hospital.  The son of the late Dr. George D Weiss, and the former Eleanor Moore Crawford, and nephew of Dorothy Dean Crawford. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Sandra Elaine (Kopler) Weiss, sons John C Weiss Jr of State College Pennsylvania, and Michael Joseph Weiss of Germantown Maryland.  He is also survived by his brother, Dr. Robert Stewart Weiss, Bob's wife Dr. Cindy (Pitzer) Weiss, and their daughter Millicent Griswold.  John was a 1956 graduate of Kutztown Area High School, and in 1960 he graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering.  After college John entered Bethlehem Steel's Looper Program in Johnstown, where he eventually served as the Superintendent of the Wheel and Axle Plant.  John also served as Senior Buyer and Manager of Production Engineering for Johnstown America Corporation, from which he retired in 2009.  John was a congregant of Westmont Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder.  As a teenager, John caddied at Berkleigh Country Club in Kutztown Pennsylvania where he developed his lifelong love of Golf. In Johnstown, he was a member of both the North Fork and Sunnehanna Country Clubs.  John was a great sports fan, whether it was attending his sons' baseball games, or Steelers and Pirates games with his family. An avid Penn State football fan, he also became a passionate follower of the wrestling program late in life.  The family would like to thank the staff at Laurel View Village Arbor for the care that they provided to John over the past two years, and especially for their sacrifices over the past nine months.  A private service will be held at the convenience of the family, interment in the family plot at the Arch Spring Cemetery in Sinking Valley.
