Judith Dembowski, 84, Windber, died February 27, 2025 at Memorial Medical Center. Born August 27, 1940 in Johnstown, daughter of the late Harry and Margaret Miller. Survived by husband William Dembowski; daughter Michelle Jefferson; son T. Scott Figura, wife Ann Marie Figura; step children Scott, Theresa (Ski), and Ray Dembowski; along with grandchildren Kristopher Harford, Jenifer Harford, Joshua Figura, Amanda Figura, Kaylie Dembowski, Lindsey Berner, Steffa Dembowski; and great-grandchildren Ella, Robbie, Owen, Zakarie and Kolbie. She was a registered nurse employed by Conemaugh Memorial Hospital and a member of First Lutheran Church. Judy was the recipient of the Cameo Award, the highest achievement for a registered nurse. She oriented hundreds of nurses and doctors at Conemaugh and instilled the importance of bedside nursing. She was hard and she was tough, but she made sure they were ready and able to do the job. Judy always made sure the little things, at work and in life, were taken care of and was always first in line to donate, she touched thousands of lives and continually made them better. Friends will be received at Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary, 921 Menoher Blvd., on Saturday, March 8, 2025 from 11:00 until the time of services at 1:00, Vicar Christy Harford officiating.
The Cambria County Nurse Honor Guard will have a brief service honoring the decades of care that Judy gave during her career.
In honor of Judi’s commitment to nursing and passion for helping others, the family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the 1889 Foundation for nursing scholarships to support aspiring nursing students in Cambria and Somerset Counties.
