Kathleen A. Smothers, Silver Spring, MD, formerly of Johnstown, went to be with the Lord, January 24, 2023. She was born June 1, 1959, in Johnstown, daughter of the late LaBruce Smothers and Mary Francis Smith Westbrook, and also predeceased by siblings, Barbara, Darlene, Pamela, Terry, Arthur and Rodriguez. She is survived by her son, "Shour" Mashhour E. Howling, Johnstown; grandchildren Taylor, Andre and J’Mir; and great-grandchildren Aralynn, Genesis and Suri; and fiance' Maurice Ates. Also leaving behind her surviving siblings, Rosemary (JR Wardlaw), LaBruce “Blacky”, Julia (Roland Curry), Pete (Misty), and Tina (Bishop Joseph McGauley); fiance’ Maurice Ates; her goddaughter’s Raven and La’Teia; god-sister Faye McCray; Nita (Bum) Williams, Phyllis Morris, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Kathleen was employed for 24 years by the FDA as a regulatory information specialist, and had previously worked for the postal service in Johnstown, she was a faithful member of Jabbok International Ministries and Jefferson Memorial COGIC. Friends will be received on Thursday February 2, 2023 from 4-7 PM at Jefferson Memorial COGIC, 325 William Penn Ave., Johnstown, where the homegoing services will be held Friday at 11:00 AM, Bishop Joseph McGauley officiating. Interment Richland Cemetery.
