Kita was born in Bukuvo, Macedonia on August 12, 1934. She was the daughter of Pando and Ilinka Djorevic. She emigrated with her sister and parents from North Macedonia, the former Republic of Yugoslavia. They lived in St.Marys, PA where her father had made a home for his family. She worked at the Sylvania plant in Emporium, PA manufacturing light bulbs. Kita married Lazar Georgevich of Lafce, Macedonia who had also emigrated to the United States. They raised three children.
Kita was an avid gardener. She could grow anything anywhere. We never knew of a store-bought vegetable growing up. She kept grapevines, fruit trees, including fig trees that somehow flourished in western PA. Everything came from a jar or from her freezer which we referred to as the “war chest”.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, where she pinched thousands of pierogi, rolled tons of cabbage, and baked hundreds of nut rolls. She was an active member of the New Kensington Eagles Ladies Auxiliary. Kita and Lazar spent many a night dancing to bands at the Eagles. They were both excellent dancers. They are now dancing in heaven. We love you, mom.
Kita is preceded in death by husband of 58 years Lazar Georgevich. She is survived by daughters Elaine Miller (David), North Port, FL, Mary Grieser (Christopher), North Port, FL, son John Georgevich (Dawn), Johnstown, PA, along with grandchildren Ian Miller (Sara), Noah Miller (Sarah), Jeremy Pochan (Stacy), Zachary Georgevich; also four great-grandchildren Arianna, McKenna, Acadia, and JP (Jeremy Paul).
We would like to thank the loving staff at The Villa Personal Care and Interim Hospice for all their help and support.
