Mark Stephen Chornick, 69, died peacefully at home in his sleep on September 5, 2024, with his wife, Lynn, by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents Michael and Olwen Chornick. He is survived by his wife Lynn, son Matthew Stephen; daughter-in-law Allie, and granddaughters Claire and Fiona. He is also survived by sister Nancy Chornick and brother Michael (Mary); brother-in-law Bob Wertz (Kris); nephews Bobby, Adam, Michael (Maggie); nieces Maria (Joe) McKenna, Julia (Doug) Kalish, and Hannah and Rachel. Mark was a graduate of UPJ and a member of Delta Chi Fraternity. He was a member of Grove Avenue United Methodist Church. He was a retired Allstate Insurance Agent and a dedicated pheresis donor until his illness. When Matt was younger, Mark loved going to his baseball games. As Matt grew older, Mark liked to take trips and visit Matt, Allie, Claire and Fiona in Pittsburgh. He was always improving his home; and he loved to cook. He and Matt loved cars. He also always found time for his little buddy Charley, his 11 year old Shih-Tzu. He was an optimist and no matter how many times he suffered a setback, he continued to be positive. His death ends a 51 year love story with his wife Lynn. He was a wonderful, caring husband, a great father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, uncle, neighbor and friend. He will be missed by many and forever in our hearts. He never took a day for granted. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 4-7 PM at the Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary, 921 Menoher Blvd., where funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, Rev. Carol Hickman officiating.
