Mary Margaret Shockey

Mary Margaret Shockey, 96, Johnstown, died January 22, 2022, at the Villa Personal Care.  She was born January 2, 1926, in Frostburg, MD, daughter of the late Arvel and Mary (Railey) Minick, and also preceded in death by her husband, Harold Lewis Shockey, who she was married to from September 6, 1947, until his passing July 12, 2005, and a brother James Minick.  She is survived by daughters, Diane M. Fox (Chuck) and Connie McGinty (Joe), both of Johnstown; grandchildren Melissa Pastorek (Ryan), Christine Strugala (Vince) and Shawn McGinty (Lisa); and great grandchildren, Abbie, Sidney, Anthony, Andrew, Tyler, Nicholas and Aidan.  She is also survived by sisters, Lillian. Judy, Virginia, Cecilia and Rosie.  Mary worked as a RN at Lee Hospital, until her retirement.  She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 609 Park Ave., Johnstown, where friends and relatives will meet Wednesday for a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM, Fr. Matthew Baum officiating.  Friends will be received at Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary, 921 Menoher Blvd. Tuesday from 4-7 PM.  Interment Richland Cemetery. The family would like to thank Janel and her staff at the Villa, and Interim Hospice Care.
