Matthew C. Kelly, 86, passed away peacefully at the McCullough Place on February 21, 2022. , He was born June 24, 1935, in Johnstown. Preceded in death by wife Joan “Tootie” in 2018, parents, James & Agatha Kelly, in-laws Frank & Anna Civis, siblings, Maureen Kelly and Jim Kelly. Survived by loving children Chris Havrilak (Rich) Litiz, PA; Tim Kelly, Raleigh NC; Paula Gojmerac (Chris), Julie Muha, and Jamie Weaver (B.J.), all of Johnstown; grandchildren who he loved with his whole heart, Elyse Cameron (Justin), Nathan Havrilak (Kaitlyn), Melanie Muha, Wyatt Weaver, Rylee Cameron and sister Louise Maser. Matt served 6 years in the PA Army National Guard, was a retired City of Johnstown Police Officer and served as a Commonwealth of PA Constable for 20 years. Matt along with his late wife dedicated 26 years to taking care of their angel on earth, daughter Julie. After the passing of his wife, Julie was his reason to keep going, unfortunately cancer changed everything. Matt loved any sport with a ball. He loved watching the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers while coaching them from his recliner. Dad/Pap will be forever loved and forever missed. Thank you to the wonderful staff at the McCullough Place for the care and respect you showed to our dad during his 6 months living in your community. A special thank you to Mary Ann and Billie from 365 Hospice for the compassionate care you gave to our dad during his final days. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2-7 at Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary, West Hills, where the Fraternal Order of Police will hold a ritual service 6PM Wednesday, and a prayer service will be held on Thursday at 10 AM, Fr. James Crookston officiating. Interment St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
