Michael Kozak Obituary

Michael Raymond Kozak, 84 of Johnstown, entered into his eternal home on Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023.  He was born on May 16, 1938.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Elizabeth (Kasic) Kozak; brother Kenny, sister-in-law Mary Jane; nephew Matt; and brother-in-law Richard Dunn, with whom he had a very special friendship and resided with he and his wife Patty.   He is survived by his wife of 64 years, the former Patricia Dunn; children Debbie O’Gorman (Gary); Michael; Susan Maxey (Mike); PK Lober (John); Chris (Lisa); and Rick (Kimmie).  His marriage and his family were his greatest loves.  He was the very proud Pap to 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.  He is also survived by brothers Danny, Dave (Alexis), and Marty.  He and his brothers enjoyed a close relationship.  If you were fortunate enough to walk thru his front door, you were family to him.  Upon high school graduation he served with the U.S. Army in the 82nd Airborne.  He was a very talented accordion player and played locally when he was younger.  He retired from Allied Van Lines as a warehouse manager.  Mike loved family parties and family functions.  Anytime that his family was able to get together was a reason to celebrate.  He will live on through stories, love and laughter.  Mike was a lifelong member of Visitation Catholic Church, where in his younger years served as an usher and alter boy.  At his request there will be no viewing.  Father John Slovikovsky will lead family and friends in a mass of celebration of Mike’s life at 11 AM Wednesday at Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church.  Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery with full military honors.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Janet Weiss Hospital in Danville in honor of his granddaughter Anna.  Our family would like to thank Dr. Balkissoon Maharaj for the friendship and care that he extended to our father.  Thank you, Victor, on Good Sam 6.  You provided our dad with compassionate care.  If you so wish, raise a glass of your favorite adult beverage in his honor.  Nazdravie Dad.  We love you!
