Michael James Nelson

Michael James Nelson, 52, Johnstown, died June 9, 2020 at his residence.  Born October 12, 1967 in Johnstown, son of the late William R. Nelson, Sr. and Connie Lou (Danvir) Nelson.  Survived by mother, Las Vegas, NV; sisters Rae Lee Kinsey (James), Johnstown; Tammy Almaguer, Johnstown; Marylou Nelson, Johnstown; Rachelle Cessna (James), Johnstown; Heather Chernard (Rolando), Las Vegas; and Billy Jo Hilegas (Charlie), Johnstown; along with brothers Richard C., Johnstown; and William R. (Monica), Willingboro, NJ.  Also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and a great-great niece.  Michael had no children but his pets were his fur babies, right up till the time of his death.  He was a big hearted, loving gentle giant with many friends.  He graduated from Johnstown Vo Tech in 1985.  He enjoyed collecting sports memorabilia and was a huge Penn State and Steeler fan.  Friends will be received from 12 until time of service at 1 on Friday at Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary, Inc., 921 Menoher Blvd.
