Hammers, Nancy Ruth, 94, passed into the loving arms of Jesus, her Lord and Savior on October 1, 2020, surrounded by her family. Born in Johnstown, she was the daughter of the Byron and Ona (Custer) Noon and sister of the late William Noon. After graduating from Johnstown High School she worked in the audit department at Penn Traffic until her marriage to the late Thomas Harold Hammers, who was employed by the Tribune Democrat after serving in WW II. Nancy was a devoted wife and mother who loved her family, friends, home and the scenic surroundings of the Johnstown area. She felt privileged to sing in the Johnstown Symphony Chorus, rooted for the home team at the AAABA games, enjoyed shopping at the Log Cabin craft shows, and relived childhood memories at high school reunions. She opened her home to the church youth group on New Years Eve, where all experienced food, fun, and wonderful Christian fellowship. Reminders of annual family vacations to Williamsburg fill the photo albums with precious memories. A committed follower of Jesus Christ, she leaves behind a godly heritage of faith and service inspired by her lifetime affiliation with the Grace Brethren Church. Following her husbands passing, she influenced the lives of two families who chose her as a nanny for their young children, and offered comfort as a greeter at Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary. Nancy is survived by her children, Kathy Hammers, Hershey, PA and Kimberly Hammers Setty, Lancaster, PA; grandchildren Christopher Setty and Kathleen Setty Davis; and great grandchildren Dallas and Austin Davis. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary, 921 Menoher Blvd, where friends will be received on Monday from 10:30 AM until time of service at 11, Rev. Wes Yoder officiating. Interment Grandview Cemetery.
