Otis was a loving and devoted husband and father. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Bessie Simpson, son, Whitney Simpson, daughter, Tameka Simpson, and beloved cat, Bella Simpson.
He was preceded in death by his parents: father, Eugene Simpson and mother, Mary Lee Armstrong-Tickle; maternal grandparents, Robert Armstrong and Delia Clark; paternal grandparents, John Cole and Lena Cole; brothers: Robert Simpson; James Tickle (Anna), Pearlie Simpson, sister, Jessie (Hurley) King Jr., and two aunts, Mary Hereford and Louvenia Brown.
Otis also leaves behind to cherish his memory his brother Ronald Tickle and sister, Lera Matthews. Several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
Otis was a lifelong learner. He attended Eastside Senior High School in East St. Louis, Illinois. Received his Bachelor's degree in Social Work from Chapman University in Orange, California. Otis received his J.D. degree from Thurgood Marshall Law School, Texas Southern University. He worked at the Department of Labor for over 15 years in Johnstown, PA. He served as the president of Toastmasters International in Johnstown for 7 years. Otis also was on the Board of Arbutus Church of the Brethren. Shortly before his death, he worked as a teacher’s aide in the Conemaugh Valley School District in Johnstown, PA.
His final resting place will be Sunset Gardens of Memory in East St. Louis, Illinois.
A memorial service will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on November 25, 2022 at Arbutus Church of the Brethren, 1201 Erickson Dr., Johnstown, PA 15904
