Patrick Leo Brady, 88, Johnstown, died August 8, 2018. Born November 17, 1929, in Johnstown, son of the late Patrick Francis and Florence Elizabeth (Ritter) Brady, he was also preceded in death by Deloris (Gates) L. Brady, and brother, Jack. Patrick is survived by his son, Michael Patrick and wife, Susan (Slivosky); Dennis and wife, Susan (Kimbal) Brady and daughter, Patricia Denise Brady and her fiance’ Mike Labarko. He is also survived by grandchildren: Sara Evans, husband John, and Dr. Allison Brady. Patrick was a 1947 graduate of the Johnstown Catholic High School; served in the United States Navy from 1950-1954 and a veteran of the Korean War aboard the USS Salem, retired from Penelec after 41 years of service. Patrick umpired in the Johnstown Junior League for 24 years; served as PIAA basketball referee for 26 years; and he was a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame. Patrick was an avid golfer and played in the Senior League Old Timers; was a manager of the West Suburban Little League for 13 years; he loved the Steelers, Pirates and Red Sox; Patrick managed the Richland Mall Girls Softball Team (in the Johnstown Girls’ League) to the championship along with his brother, Jack. Patrick lived by the code of “Do unto others as you would have done unto you.” Patrick was a Member of the American Legion Post 294; The German Beneficial Union (GBU); Polish National Alliance (PNA); Croation Fraternal Union (CFU); Catholic War Veterans (CWV); and the Harmonie Singing Society. He was a member of Church of the Visitation, BVM, where funeral mass will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, Rev. John Slovikovski, officiating. Entombment Grandview Cemetery, where military rites will be held by Conemaugh Detachment #287, Marine Corps League. Friends will be received Friday from 4-7 PM, at Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary, Inc., 921 Menoher Blvd., Johnstown.
