Queen Esther (Williams) Thompson 88, died peacefully at home on October 20, 2023. Preceded in death by parents John and Otha (Jackson) Williams; sister Rev. Pearl Cunningham; brother John (Rusty) Williams; children Brian and Kimberly Thompson, and husband Herbert Thompson to whom she was married for 31 years. Queen leaves behind daughters Stephanie Thompson of Johnstown; Rebecca Thompson (step) of Pittsburgh; and son Erskine Thompson (step) and wife Helen of Johnstown; granddaughter NeVaeh Thompson of Johnstown along with special nephew Stephen (Pete) Williams. 11 grandchildren and 10 great grands. Brother Steve Williams and wife Judy; sister-in-law Gwendolyn Hemphill and husband Lawrence; brothers-in-law, Benjamin Thompson, Bruce Thompson, and Brian Thompson.. God children Richard Cunningham, James Tyler and Kyresha Durham along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Queen was a graduate of Johnstown High class ‘55. She worked as a nursing assistant for Mercy hospital and a nutritionist for Cambria County. She served on the Cambria County election board of Kernville, Community Action Council, Kernville Crimewatch, and was a lifelong member of Flood City Elks Mecca #293 and St. James M.B. Church as a trustee, singing in the choir and the kitchen club
She was one of the first members of Senior Life of Johnstown for 16 yrs. Queen was a mother figure to many throughout the community and loved everyone especially her family and will be deeply missed by all. Friends will be received from 5-8 PM Friday at the Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary, 921 Menoher Blvd. where funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:30 AM, Clyde Williams, Jr., officiant. Interment Richland Cemetery.
