Robert L. “Red” Rhodes, 79, Johnstown, died peacefully at home November 10, 2023. He was born October 2, 1944, in Johnstown, son of the late Robert M. and Alice G. (Sayers) Rhodes, also predeceased by sisters Raenell and Ellen Margaret Rhodes. Survived by daughter Gale (William) Gray, NJ and son Brian Rhodes, Johnstown; grandchildren Bryan, Cameron and Mackenzie; and former wife Antoinette. Bob served with the Pennsylvania National Guard and retired with 30+ years at the 11inch mill Bethlehem Steel. He loved to fish, hunt, to go camping and numerous beach trips. He also enjoyed gardening and all types of cars. He was a member of the Covenant Brethren Church. The family is grateful to his nurse, Joy Young for all the excellent care and compassion shown, and much appreciation for Windber Hospice and Rev. Brian Simmons. Friends will be received at Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary, 921 Menoher Blvd., on Tuesday from 2:30 until the service time at 4:00, Rev. Brian Simmons officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Covenant Brethren Church, 665 Tire Hill Road, Johnstown, PA 15905 in Red's memory.
