Ronald G. Heinlein, 84, Johnstown, died July 23, 2021 in Frederick, MD. Born in Johnstown on September 12, 1936 son of the late Bernard and Marion (Wonders) Heinlein. Also preceded in death by his wife Sarah (Schellhammer) Heinlein in 2017, son Vincent in 2010, and brothers Michael and Peter, sister Judith and sisters-in-law Patricia Doverspike, Doris Van Dervort, and Lois Peterson. Survived by children: Mary Cook (Jeff); Timothy (Amy); Ronna Long (Doug); Kathleen Dudash (Erik); along with grandchildren, who lovingly called him Pop-Pop; Dylan, Jacob, Noah, Alyson, Spencer, Ethan and Isaac; and brother-in-law Fred Egner. Ron graduated from JHS in 1954, and was a member of the reunion committee, he then graduated from University of Pittsburgh, in 1971. He was a US Army veteran serving in Korea. Ron was an electrical engineer, employed by US Steel, Johnstown Corp, and H.F. Lenz. He was an active volunteer at the Roxbury Bandshell, and the JHS Band Boosters. and a life-long member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, where the Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday at 10:00 AM, Rev. Matthew Baum officiant. Interment St, Joseph’s Cemetery. Friends will be received Monday from 3-7 at Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary, Inc., 921 Menoher Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
