Sandra Elaine (Kopler) Weiss

Sandra Elaine (Kopler) Weiss, a woman of gentle grace and kindness, passed away peacefully at her home in Johnstown on February 1st, 2025. She was a devoted wife, mother, and friend, whose warmth and quiet strength touched the lives of all who knew her.

Sandra was born on July 10, 1941, in Johnstown to the late Joseph and Christine (Respet) Kopler. She was married to John Crawford Weiss for 52 years until his passing four years ago. Together they created a home that was always a place of comfort and care. Sandra is survived by her beloved sons John Crawford Weiss Jr of State College, Pennsylvania, and Michael Joseph Weiss of Germantown, Maryland. She is also survived by her brother in law, Dr. Robert Stewart Weiss and Bob’s wife Dr. Cindy (Pitzer) Weiss. 

Sandra found joy in life's simple pleasures. She had a deep love for her flower garden, tending to it with care and delighting in the beauty it brought to every season. A devoted fan of Pittsburgh sports, she cheered optimistically for the Pirates every year. Her home was always a reflection of her warmth, especially during the holidays, when she took great joy in decorating and creating a festive atmosphere for family and friends. More than anything, she had an extraordinary ability to make those around her feel valued, always remembering the small details of people's lives and offering kindness in both words and actions. 

Sandra showed immense strength and devotion as she cared for her husband, John, after he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. With unwavering love and patience, she remained by his side, ensuring his days were filled with dignity, comfort, and the deep bond they had shared for over five decades. She will be remembered for this steadfast devotion, quiet wisdom and the gentle way she moved through the world.

A private service will be held for family and friends.
