Shirley L. Espey, 95, Johnstown, died March 20, 2026 at Heritage Ridge. Born May 30, 1930 in Johnstown, daughter of Lee and Lillian (Bard) Long. Preceded in death by parents, husband James V. Espey, and brothers Richard and William Long. Survived by daughters Cheryl Carlson (Dr. Jeffrey), Lecanto, FL; Kimberly Espey, Johnstown; Wendy Monaghan (John), Bridgeville, PA; Judi Maurer (Rick), Clifton, VA; and son James Espey, Jr. (Lisa), Raleigh, NC. Also surviving are grandchildren Tricia, T.J., Jaimie, Kailee, Ashlee and Nicole along with great-grandchildren Victoria and Kenzie. Shirley was a Health and Physical Education teacher in the Greater Johnstown School District. She was a proud Penn State graduate who enjoyed traveling with her husband and was always up for a game of Bingo. She loved spending time with her family and blessed to share memories with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A special thank you to our sister Kim, who cared for her over the last 50 years. As a family we are forever thankful for Kim’s constant love and dedication. We love you. At Shirley’s request, services will be private, with entombment next to her husband Jim.
