Shirley Eileen Smith

Smith, Shirley Eileen, 79, Johnstown, died January 5, 2022 at Memorial Medical Center.  Born January 11, 1942 in Johnstown, daughter of the late Robert and Florence Williams.  Also predeceased by grandson Zachary Smith.  Survived by her husband Fred, to whom she was married for 54 years.  Also surviving are daughter Kim Betz and son Dan Smith; grandchildren Carly Smith, Danielle Betz, and Brady Smith.  Shirley was a 1961 graduate of Westmont Hilltop High School.  She was active in the community serving the Junior Miss/Distinguished Young Women Scholarship Program with her husband for 52 years.  She was active in Kiwanis, serving as club president and Lt. Governor for the Pennsylvania District.  She also received the Walter Zeller Fellowship Award from Kiwanis International.  She served her church as a Sunday school teacher.  Her employment history includes working as an aid at the Westmont Child Development Center.  Service will be held at noon on Sunday, January 16 at Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary, Inc.  Contributions may be made in her memory to the Community Foundation, John Ayres Scholarship Fund.
