Stephen R. Harfield, Sr., 71, Johnstown, transitioned August 18, 2020 at his residence. Born June 8, 1949 in Johnstown, son of the late Samuel and Ruth (Hall) Harfield. Preceded in death by beloved wife Gale Arlene (Brandon) Harfield on July 4, 2020 and son Nathan on July 26, 2020 and brother Ronald Hall. Survived by daughter Carmella Cook (Michael), Chantilly, VA; sons Richard A., Johnstown; Lee A. (Jennifer), Johnstown; Stephen R., Jr., (Kristie Joi), Harrisburg; sisters Sandra Harfield, CA; Jacqueline Jones, Pittsburgh; brothers Samuel Harfield (Geraldine), Harrisburg; Chauncey Harfield, FL; and sister Georgetta Bryant (Terry); and daughter-in-law, Missy Harfield, Commodore. Also survived by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and special friend Charles Durham. Stephen was a veteran of the Merchant Marines. He was a 39 year employee of Bethlehem Steel Bar, Rod & Wire Dept. After retiring from Bethlehem, he was employed by CamTran. He coached Little League for many years in the Johnstown Boys League and was passionate about mentoring children. He was an audiophile and known for his marvelous spaghetti. To his family he was the embodiment of a super hero. Friends will be received from 4-7 PM on Friday at Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary, Inc., 921 Menoher Blvd. Masks and social distancing will be expected. Funeral service will be private.
