Suzanne (Shaffer) Griffith

Suzanne Griffith, 73, Southmont, passed away March 21, 2020. She was born April 21, 1946, in Johnstown, daughter of the late C. Earl and Mary Lou (Allendorfer) Shaffer Jr. Preceded in death by her grandparents Arthur and Esther Allendorfer and C. Earl and Daisy Shaffer Sr.; brother in-law, Bobby Kohan. She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Robert J. Griffith, sons Eric (Francine Connelly), Chattanooga, TN; and Chad J. (Kelly Gregg), Johnstown; her dearly beloved grandchildren, Quinn, Braydon, Jordyn, Kaitlyn, Collin and Cameron; sister of Marjorie Pile (Kevin), Southmont; and her nieces and nephews, who knew her as “Aunt Sissy,” Mandy, Megan, Doug and Jeff; sister-in-law Judy Kohan. Suzanne graduated from Westmont in 1964 and then went on to earn her B.S. at The University of Pittsburgh. She taught English at Richland School District before devoting her life to her beloved children. She also managed Hickory Farms in the Westwood Plaza. She loved trying new recipes, knitting, and spending quality time with her husband, family, and her beach friends at the “Crab Shack” in Myrtle Beach, SC. Sue also loved to read. After finishing a book, she would always declare that it was “the best book ever!” But more than anything, Sue was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church, where a memorial service will be held at a later date.
