Grandma Herman had royal class in her blood; I am sure of it. Her exquisite and classy taste, put togetherness, and smell of perfume will forever be imprinted upon my heart. I miss her laugh, her texts, her voice, and her strength. She taught me that women can do anything that men can if they put their mind to it. Miss you every day. Love you with all our hearts. Through the years Aunt Diane became my friend to confide in and to share special days. Aunt Di brought a little class to our family. Her laugh was so soft but contagious. She was always so nice to my family and the kids as they bounced around her house of breakables. I'll never forget playing in the basement with my little brother and pretending I was the bartender. Or the look on her face when one of my boys lit a firework that ended up burning the chair she was sitting in! Diane called me every February on her wedding anniversary to say, "Do you remember walking down the aisle with Eric at the wedding?" and we would laugh (as I was only 3 at the time). She always wore a brooch on the back of her shoulder so those behind her could see it. I bought her a new one for Christmas almost every year. Diane loved her family to all ends of the Earth and lit up talking about all of her nieces and nephews. Diane was a beautiful soul and I will miss our talks about who would win Dancing with the Stars and who should go home. Aunt Di - I'm sure you are dancing among the stars embraced by the hand of God. We love you and will miss you dearly.

Marti and family - Thank you so much for the wonderful message and stories of Aunt Di. Although we all know you first as her 'flower girl' and now later as Marti you were always an important figure in the family. Keep the brooch tradition going as you know how Aunt Di loved traditions! Your analogy of Dancing with the Stars is perfect and resolute to know that she too is now dancing! Barbie

I am a former member of the Johnstown Garden Club and appreciated Diane's friendship and her willingness to share all her knowledge and even some of her personal flower show supplies.   She was a warm and loving lady.
I am sorry to hear of her passing and will pray for her family to know the comfort and peace of our Lord.

All the Flower Show Judges in Central Area Judges Council are saddened to know that Diane will no longer be with us to lead and "mother" her Flower Show School students as they work toward becoming Flower Show Judges. Most of us attended Flower Show School under her tutelage and benefited directly from her advice and encouragement. We will miss her deeply and feel so fortunate to have known her. She will always have a special place in our hearts.

Vivian - on behalf of the family of Diane Herman thank you for your thoughtful message. She so enjoyed the Judges Council work, although she would never call it that! The friendships and experiences were so meaningful to her. Please carry on in her stead and make her proud of you and your work, education and encouragement. Sincere regards.

Diane was a special part of my life for many years. She was a proud and loving grandmother to my daughters, Brook and Heather, and great-grandmother to our grandson, Clay. She exemplified a positive role model of a strong, generous and selfless woman, who loved her family deeply. She will always be a cherished part of our family's sweetest memories.

I have known Diane from National Garden Clubs meetings. We served on the National Garden Club membership committee together. She has done all that I asked her to do and was an encouragement to me as chairman of that committee. My last communication with her was two weeks ago. She was hoping to get to our board in Maine in September.  She will be missed. My thoughts and prayers go with the family.

Thank you for your thoughtful note. Aunt Diane so enjoyed her involvement in the National Garden Club and would always speak of the places she went and people she was with in regards to that organization. She really did find her love in teaching and coaching but could not do without the 'committee' presence! Thank you again.
